Emilie-Claire makes her long-overdue return to the Old Town Hall Concert Series! When she last graced our stage eleven years ago, she was still early in her career and had one Juno nomination under her belt.
Today, Emilie-Claire Barlow is one of the most accomplished and fastest-rising jazz vocalists in Canada, with six Juno nominations resulting in two wins in just the past eight years. The potent combination of well-honed vocal and musical talents and a charming stage presence has earned Emilie-Claire Barlow a sizeable and loyal following worldwide.
She was born in Toronto to parents who were professional musicians, and by age seven she had begun a career singing TV and radio commercials. Emilie-Claire has released 11 self-produced albums, is proficient on several instruments, and sings in English, French and Portuguese.
“Her devastating chops let her zip through the changes like a trumpeter, hitting all the high notes with the clarity and accuracy of Dizzy Gillespie in full, glorious flight,” reads a concert review from the Hamilton Spectator, “… and she can swing like a raging storm.”
Our audience regulars still recall that performance from over a decade ago. We are thrilled and delighted to welcome Emilie-Claire Barlow back to Hilton Beach for what will surely be another unforgettable evening.
